Easy to setup!Jul 28, 2010 I received my remote a few days ago. It was so simple to setup (maybe 45 seconds). I don't have any long term feedback, but if your looking for a remote that is very easy to setup and cheap this is the remote for you.
Tip for those who complain of short rangeJul 23, 2010 I got mine set up fairly quickly. Didn't work the first time, so I reversed all the switches on the opener and did it again, and that did the trick. But I then found the range to be very short - less than 10 feet - no good! But what I also found was that I was expecting to press the button 16 times for a Stanley opener, yet 14 did the trick (i.e. the door was activated on the 14th press.) 14 is for a multicode (I take that to mean generic.) So I programmed it again, but this time did the full 16 presses, and now my range is very good - along the lines of 100 feet. Also, if you're curious (I was) - how does it control 2 doors with only 1 set of DIP switches? It remembers the settings during activation. So you set it to match one door, do the programming step, then set it to match the switches on your second door and do the programming step for it. Great unit and highly recommend!
Skeptical but it worked GreatJul 22, 2010 I was skeptical about this working after reading a few reviews, but it worked GREAT. I have an old Craftsman opener from around 1992 and a new commercial series LiftMaster opener.. It programmed easily with both. I did have to clear out the Craftsman openers memory by holding the programming button for 10 seconds, then programmed the Universal, then my two craftsman remotes as well as the keypad. I then went through the auto programming for the Liftmaster... All is wonderful....
Great product!!Jul 20, 2010 I needed a replacement garage door opener and this baby did the trick. It was easy to program and works great.
Works with SOME major brandsJul 13, 2010 As others have said, the advertising of this product is misleading. It does NOT work with all major brands. You're much better off buying a remote made by the same company that made your garage door opener.
We have an Allister opener and I ended up buying the Allstar 110995 remote after trying this one. It can handle up to 3 different codes and cost $10 less than this remote. It was also infinitely easier to program (no tiny little switches to flip, just two large buttons to push). If you're looking to replace an Allister remote, go check out the Allstar.
I just wish I had known this before I wasted an hour of my time and two trips to the store on this remote.
I would also like to add that I would have never even reviewed this product and given it such a low rating (didn't even buy it at Amazon) had the company not lied on the packaging. I have contacted the manufacturer to voice my displeasure about this as well.
