Great case.. This is the second case of the same model that I have bought. Cell with this case flew out my car in a terrible car crash and it is intact...and so is the case. LOVE IT.

 Can't get past the echo!May 21, 2010
I live in a very wet climate and I spend a lot of time on my boat, so I really need to protect my Blackberry from water. The Otterbox does the protection part really well. The only complaint at all that I have about the protection and security aspects is that the belt clip is a little too narrow for heavy "work" belts and will slip off if you're not careful. But, all that is ruined by the sound quality issues. Everyone you talk to is asking you to repeat things because of the echo. Mine has the little foam doughnut installed that is supposed to fix it but it isn't fixed. Consequently, I really only use the Otterbox when I'm on the boat and it is a hassle to take it off and put it on. They really need a fix for the echo.

As previously mentioned, this case delivers as promised HOWEVER for one reason and one reason alone, why I would not recommend this case? ECHOS! Ever since I bought this case and attached it to my Blackberry 8900, my end users have complained of hearing echoing during live calls. I have searched forums for a solution but aside from either dismantling or modifying the case by removing a peice here or cutting a piece there, it's not worth it IMO. I am going back to using something that offers less protection (unfortunately) but I would rather be a bit more careful w/ my phone than have people complain about echoing and not wanting to call. So yeah, aside from that, it's good but not great!

I have owned the defender for a little more than a month. I feel that my device is very secure and protected. I no longer worry about protecting my device in the rain or inspecting it after each occasional fall onto the concrete.
The main downside that I have experienced is that the added thickness makes it more tiresome for my thumbs to type with it on. I have pain in my hand typing long messages. Also scrolling up using the trackball is not as smooth due to the border around the screen protector blocking the upward motion of my thumb.

I have to be honest here, I was skeptical about ordering this case due to the bulk & price of it however, it has proven itself beyond a doubt. Drops into the snow (not recommended) out on the boat and beach it's protected from salt spray and sand plus it is basically indestructible.
Because of my positive experience with the defender I toned it down for my sane life at work and ordered the commuter series in black which adds shock and screen protection with less bulk and that too is indestructible and does allow free use of the camera and flash.
The only drawback to the Defender is the camera as everyone else states when you use the flash you lose any picture as it reflects in the casing similar to taking a picture through a window at something outside you get a flash reflection instead of the picture. For the Defender since I use it skiing, boating and outdoors, I chose the yellow and black so I can find it quickly. It does look like it was made by Dewalt tools but it definitely does it's job. Both cases are highly recommended.
