Otterbox for Palm Treo 800WOct 22, 2009 Product worked as expected...I didn't use the clear film that came with the case, just the hard skeleton and silicon wrap.
800w OwnerMar 12, 2009 The 800w is a slim phone, but the Otterbox is not. Beware that you are adding substantial weight and size with this case.
Also, the case is difficult to remove. I suppose it must be in order to be so sturdy, but the 800w freezes every so often and prying apart this case to remove the battery is VERY annoying. I learned to live with this, but I could not live with the echo the case gave people who were on the phone with me.
There wasn't a problem when the case was off my phone (meaning my specific 800w was not the problem), but when it was on the 800w, every person I talked to complained about an echo on their side of the line. So I had a friend go into the other room with my phone so I could listen, and of course, there was an echo as I talked to my friend on the 800w. Unless there is some other variable I'm not seeing, the case is the source of the echo. I'm speculating here, but a plausible explanation is the rigidity of the case. If sound can travel from the earpiece through the case to the microphone piece at the bottom of the 800w, then that is the source of the echo.
These are problems I encountered with the Otterbox, and I am now using the Seidio Flex Armor case. (We'll see how the Seidio holds up.)
