 Nowhere near 10 years !!Jun 17, 2010
Lasted just over a year, which for the price is not a good deal at all ! I've hoped it would last at least several.

It works, but how do you review a 10 year battery after only a few months? All I can say is that I hope it keeps working for 10 years. I keep mine in a smoke detector in the attic, so it's certainly a convenient purchase.

If you read the fine print in their 10 year warranty; it is valid for an ionization detector only. But since I want protection against both fast burning and slow smothering fires,I want a dual sensor.
A 3 pack of Duracells are about the same price

I bought 6 first alert smoke detectors 5/27/07.
They all came with Ultralife Lithium Power Cell batteries.
The smoke detectors all have stickers on them that say "10 year Lithium Battery".
I would assume that since they actually put the sticker directly on the battery compartment of the smoke alarm that they were not talking about a 10 year shelf life or storage life. All 6 of the Ultralife Power Cell Batteries failed and lost their charge in less than 3 years. All of them were sounding low battery beeps in hallways keeping condominium residents awake at night, resulting in multiple phone calls and complaints.
They were used in a dry, warm and normal atmosphere.
First Alert should change their Adds to read "10 year Warranty" but
absolutely not a "10 year battery"!
I think this is an embarrasment to the First Alert company to connect the
Ultralife name to any of their products.

For thirteen years I lived in a home with six smoke detectors. They had alkaline 9V batteries which we replaced every third year, whether they needed to be replaced, or not. We moved less than two years ago and installed Ultralife lithium batteries in all seven smoke detectors. And in less than two years (closer to 15 months), the smoke detectors are starting to beep, indicating the batteries need to be replaced. So how is 15 months life five times better than 3 years?
(BTW - not sure which Ultralife battery I have, this $5.00 one or the one that's twice as expensive. I think it's the one that's twice as expensive. $70 for 7 batteries, as I recall. Maybe this cheaper one is better than its more expensive sibling.)
